Driving to Bonavista June 19

Today was just a long driving day. We were packed up and leaving by 8am but Madonna stopped us to take a picture for her rogue gallery.
We were at the ferry early enough to ensure that we got on. After disembarking, we still had a 4 hr drive which actually became a 5 hour drive for us (me, actually) because we decided to take a more scenic route. But truthfully, it was sorta "meh". By the time we arrived at the BnB, it was 5:30 ish.
The home was built in 1899, chock full of antiques, and the owners also run a cafĂ©, almost diagonally across the street, where we went for supper. We'd had a big lunch, plus we were really tired, and I only ordered a bowl of soup.
The BnB is very nice but thank God, we learned how to put a few things in one bag, because there are stairs here. The suitcases would have been a no go. We're right next door to a theater (the yellow building with the weird dome).
After dinner, even though we were all tuckered out, got back in the car to drive the 7 km to the lighthouse to see the puffins.

Bloody cold breeze up there but we weren't the only yahoos standing out in the wind. You need binoculars to see them properly, or have Michael's telephoto lens . Otherwise,  like looking at an angry bee's nest unless a bird happened to fly overhead.

The puffins swarm twice a day, and it's nice to be there at the right time. We arrived a tad early, but other tourists told us about some young foxes cavorting nearby.  Come for puffins, stay for baby foxes.
Also near the lighthouse is a provincial park called The Dungeons. You have to drive through a pasture, to get to the rocks.

The last time that I had been in Newfoundland, even though I had covered a lot of territory, I only remember seeing one cow and one snowy owl (apart from the marine birds). C'est Tous. Now we're seeing a lot of farm animals. I also don't remember people caring about landscaping- chalking that up to a short season. But now I am seeing a lot of flowers and house plants.
So, so pooped....climbed (high bed!) into bed early.
