Going to Burgeo June 8

I had fallen into a pattern of mostly nothingness for the last few pandemic years. Each morning, read my newspaper hard copy and online, do my sudoku and crosswords, and before you know it, it's lunchtime. Each night, watch my tv shows, and for god's sake, I'd do my damnedest, to keep away from everyone..  And even though I still have access to my newspapers and shows, on this trip, I've given up trying to stay up to date. Can't read more than headlines. I can't read while Michael's driving because I'm on constant moose alert.
Even though I'm still concerned about covid, I'm not thinking about it every minute of the day. UNTIL today. The hotel was PACKED. There are hoards of people. The population of Deer Lake is only a little over 5000, about twice the number of St. Anthony. But Deer Lake is situated at a crossroads in western Newfoundland. There is an airport here,  and people like us, use it as a stopping place before continuing on to  other places . There is a beautiful sandy beach, on a very large lake, but it's still mainly a hub, situated in Humber Valley. I was startled each time I saw a sign for Humber Valley, thinking I'm in Toronto.

AAAARGH. I forgot to do my Wordle yesterday. There goes my streak . On the other hand, one less commitment.

Odometer now reading over 4600 km.
We entered Nfld bottom left corner at Port aux Basques, made our way to the very northern tip, and then back down again to Corner Brook , where we headed slightly east, but still south, all the way to the coast at Burgeo. Once we leave here, we'll have to go back up again to Deer Lake and then head east to King's Point. Left Deer Lake around 10.
This was after filing up, and I just had to check out the cannibis store at the gas station. My first time going into one of these places, and I didn't ask, but I wonder if they give out samples because that place sure did smell funny.

Didn't drive into Corner Brook, but also a good size town, almost 32,000 population
Straining my eyes  looking for moose but today, saw nothing but chipmunks. And at some point, I fell asleep because hadn't adequately coffeeeed up. I was afraid to drink too much because I knew that there wouldn't be any facilities on the Burgeo road.
Barely any snow left in the south. Warmer temperatures and rain today. Mainly  drizzle that prevented me from taking a lot of pictures.
The topography on the Burgeo road kept changing, and finally, at about 1:30, we had arrived. I had made Michael stop several times for picture taking, and I was about to stop him again, when we finally arrived at the BnB.
When booking this place, I somehow had neglected to ask whether there were any stairs, and there ARE stairs, both inside and out. So instead of dragging all our suitcases upstairs (the owner offered to help),  we just pulled stuff out of the trunk of the car and took (hopefully) just what we need for 3 nights. Coincidentally, at our last  stop in Deer  Lake, I had bought a couple of giant zip up tote bags at the Dollarama. I'd met a girl in the laundry room last night that had one of these. Figured it would be better than my garbage bags, for laundry. But now, they became our makeshift suitcases .
Here are some pictures of the BnB.
And here are some pics of our room.

And the view out our big picture window:
Next order of business, was going for lunch and by the time we finished, it was after 2:30. There are a few restaurants around, but I figured that I just couldn't handle another big meal today (I know, unbelievable!). Somehow convinced Michael that we would survive on PBJ (insert whiny voice here "peanut butter sandwich for supper???") and made a quick stop at the grocery store for bread. 2 minutes in the other direction, is a ferry dock where I hope to board, to visit the island of Ramea, if/when it stops raining. Maybe Saturday. Would be a ride of a little over an hour to get there.
And if like Michael, you were to ask, what's to see on Ramea, I would have to say, darned if I know.
           (At the ferry dock).
From there, we drove another 5 minutes to a Provincial park where I ran up and down some sandy paths to see the beach.
And here, are the bonus videos. The second one shows Corner Brook, from a look out.

Not going anywhere tonight (not that there is anywhere to go to). It is actually pouring out.
