Last Day in Burgeo June 11, part 1
Woke up to another glorious day or at least that's what the weather forecast promised, because the fog had yet to lift. We were planning to go to Ramea today via ferry. The trip would take 1 hour and 15 minutes covering about 20 km. But before going to the ferry, even though it was foggy out, we decided to climb the stairs directly across the street from the BnB. I did this mainly cuz I figured I'd be too exhausted later in the day. And I WAS thoroughly exhausted. But I still felt the need to go up a second time.
So here is a link that has two videos. The first one, is when we went up in the morning and the second one, later in the day.

The little white flowers will become cloud berries, also called bakeapple.
And the leaves surrounding the fuzzy white flowers, are used to make Labrador tea.
There are rose bushes everywhere you look but obviously it's way too early to see any blooms. But of course there are always other spring flowers.
We went down the road to get on the ferry. But unbeknownst to me, when I had taken the picture of the ferry schedule from the side of the terminus building, did not realize that this was an outdated schedule. Happily we did not miss the ferry, it was just leaving one hour later.
Ferry left at 1pm and wasn't long before the fog lifted.

We arrived at 1:15 and we're told that the ferry would be leaving again at 3:30 sharp. These guys were very serious about keeping to their schedule and I had a feeling that Mussolini's trains would have run late more often than these ferries, which incidentally, run every day, weather permitting. These are not tour boats. They are the lifeline of these small communities. But we of course, we were on for the ride and also hoping to see whales or porpoises. And if there were any whales or porpoises out there of course they successfully avoided us. I didn't see anything but waves. But this was all for the very inexpensive price of $13 return for the two of us. This a hefty expense for the government to keep these ferries running.
So we were a little anxious about being back in time for the ferry departure but the guys working on the boat said," no problem, it doesn't take long to get around the island. It's only 2 km long. You'll have no problem getting back in time." Well, we barely made it around half the island. Got back just in time for the ferry and we had walked over 3 mi. Not that 3 miles should take that long to walk. But we had to stop and take pictures and stop and look around and stop and maybe sit down a minute or two. And wish we could have stayed even longer. But that was the last ferry of the day.
