Last Day in Dildo June 26
This is the oldest continuously inhabited English town in what was to be Canada. BTW, the pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock in 1620.Had a nice little guided tour.
(There was a store house here, built on the rocks. The rocks were there for the water to drain after high tide.)
(This is a ghost house built over original remains)
I wanted to take a trail almost across the road, but there was too much "up" and it was a non starter with Michael.
Said that it was flat and easy. How anybody could call this a 'gentle' trail, I haven't a clue. I think that the first trail may have been easier. The Burnt Head Trail sucked you into the woods and before you knew it, it was up and down, and up and down, which came with the corresponding complaints, " I'm dying, I'm so hot, how much longer, I'm getting eaten alive, etc., etc. The scenery was magnificent and more than made up for the whining, panting and moaning.
From there, we figured that we'd only have time for a hot dog if the boat was going out again, but I called and found out that they didn't have any bookings and weren't going. Awwww, too 😞.
Spoke to the skipper later and he told me that for sure, they'd be going out tomorrow, but I declined, because although technically we could have stuck around, because only an hour away from St. Johns , we have other places to see tomorrow while the weather is good.
Had chickens wings and pizza. All yummy.
