Rocky Harbour, Day 2. June 3

Did I mention that we're in the middle of Gros Morne National Park?
Today was the day we hit the hiking trails. There are 22 trails and we went on 3 of them.
I figured that I'd start Michael on#11, an 'easy' trail.
And he reminded me to look out for birds. Birds? I'm just looking at my feet to make sure that I don't fall on my face. Trail became steeper, and I'm thinking, if this is a 'gentle' trail, I AM getting old.But it WAS a short walk and then we arrived at the payoff.
That walk accomplished, we drove on,
to a teeny weeny town called Bonne Bay,

 had deli sandwiches for lunch (they had chipotle mayo!), and where I also picked up a walking stick in the gift store, and proceeded to The Tablelands (another hike, #16). This one was going to be longer, but we had a huge incentive soon after the start, because a couple of park workers waved wildly at us, to let us know that there were caribou in sight. Thank God, Michael had his camera with the super duper lens, and he was able to get nice pictures (which I cannot access until we are home again- he should have brought his computer). I on the other hand, am including pictures only as proof that we really did see them. I don't know why they don't put bells and whistles on these animals because we never would have seen them if they hadn't been pointed out to us. 
David describes my pictures as being impressionist art. I'll accept that. And I do understand that his intention was not to be complimentary, but I still like it.

This path actually showcased the mountains, but you'll have to refer to the videos, to see them, because I got too excited when we got closer, and forgot to take still shots.
Before we returned to our BnB, we did one more remarkably short walk, #10 and now we can claim, that we completed 3 entire trails in one day.
We'd  hardly got back to our place, before we went out for supper at the pub, where we had seen the show the previous  evening. We had been warned, first come, first served, and I always like to sit up close, so we went early to eat.
The show was fabulous entertainment. 5 man band. 2 of the guys are original bandmates and together for 27 years, and in their late 60s. But there was nothing old about them, except the way they look. And the accordionist shared an uncanny resemblance to Harpo Marx. They have a polished, informative, entertaining and energetic act with 3 additional younger gifted musicians. Thoroughly Fun! Didn't meet anybody today, that we're haven't seen before. We didn't even see any moose. Not our quickest start in the morning but we finally pushed off at 9:30. Headed back south via the west coast and was keeping a keen eye open for whale spouts, but instead, only saw one small lost iceberg (not usually found outside iceberg alley).  At some point, also saw a boat in the distance, sticking up behind some trees. Knew that it was neither a fishing point nor a cruise ship, and had to get a closer look. And of course, it was the ferry, leaving for Labrador.  We had stopped at the ferry dock, during our north bound trip, but the ferry wasn't  there at the time. Tokyo april12

Left on time . We arrived at the airport with loads of time to spare. I like when there's no pressure to get through security. No long line ups . Security was suspicious of my ankles (are they becoming too thick?) And made me giggle as they tickled them and then made me hop and skip (at my age!) to check my heels . Plane started to roll at 1:20. The safety talk was incorporated into Canadian travel videos (very cute). Oh, shit we fly over Russia! TMI? First bathroom run at 3Pm. Happy to report bathroom was still clean. In fact, the bathrooms never came close to reaching the disgusting levels we had encountered on other flights. How come I became less sleepy after a bottle of wine than before drinking? Wolfed down lunch. Either it was good or I was THAT ravenous. I picked the beef dish because it was supposed to come with potatoes, but I got rice. No matter....I was so hungry that later on, when they delivered a tuna fish roll for a snack, I ate that too (...

May 19 LAST of 7 in a row Sea Days

Ok, I'm a little short on material. But I did get snagged by the magician to go on stage last night. I HATED it. Very hot under the lights. But at least, I didn't embarrass myself . Or at least, I don't think that I did . Much. Over night, we crossed into Egyptian waters. Pre-dinner entertainment tonight, was made up of a few intrepid passengers who had practiced their Bollywood dance moves over the last week. I took videos , but it'll take forever to upload, so cannot include in today's blog, but we enjoyed it. Tomorrow morning, dock at Safaga and take a LONG ride to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. Have a wake up call .for 5am. And yes, it will be hot. And actually, this is possibly the worst way to see any of the ancient world in Egypt. We won...
