Enroute to Ferry Back to Nova Scotia June 30

Well, it was too early to do the 1.5 hr drive to the ferry after breakfast. We were booked on the overnight ferry leaving at 5pm, and technically you only have to be there, one hour before.
So, first on the agenda, was to visit the Bowring Park to visit, a local landmark, The Great Caribou.
There isn't any attraction too small that can't capture my attention. Bowring was a big name in St. John's, eventually opening the chain of gift stores, before going bankrupt." This park was a gift to the City from Bowring Brothers’ Ltd. on the occasion of its 100th business anniversary in Newfoundland in 1911. It was designed by Frederick Todd as a Victorian-style park and was originally 50 acres when it first opened in 1914. The City of St. John’s expanded it in the 1950s and it is now 200 acres, the largest of the municipal parks" as per
Google . A stream runs through the park, and it has multiple walking paths, swimming pool, splash pads, etc. Very beautiful.Azaleas are in full bloom everywhere.
Next stop was to do a drive by The Confederation building, the Provincial legislative building. The building sits on a hill overlooking the city. On the sidewalk, next to the street, in front of the building, sits one lone security officer in a booth, waving to the passing traffic.
We did a short excursion to the village of Petty Harbour. A pity that we were still too early to stop there for lunch.
One more Canadian historical site to visit not too far from the ferry, Castle Hill.
A few more pics from Castle Hill:

And time for one more drink before lining up for the ferry.
Somehow, never got in the mood to visit the local Costco. I was curious about it, because it is the largest one in Canada. Drove past multiple shipping centers, but not yet in the mood to check any of them out. Not even the one that had Bed Bath and Beyond.
And Michael never got his Ugly Stick. This may be a project for him this fall. To make his own Ugly Stick. Anybody have a spare mop handle?
The odometer rolled over 8000 km.
Heard repeatably, how difficult it was to rent a car in Newfoundland. This had prompted many people to travel earlier or in some cases, to even rent a U-Haul van. And of course, the tour groups have also sold out. I know that when I traveled with Trafalgar, I always enjoyed the itinerary. But I'm also pleased that we didn't run through 3 towns in a day, the way most of the tours do.
We have a cabin right at the front of the boat. Very comfortable, and position wise, this is the best place to feel every up and down with the waves .

A bigger ferry than the one we had crossed over with. More like a small cruise ship.

From the east coast of Newfoundland, to Nova Scotia, would be, almost a 16 hour ride. It did start to rain, but only once we were inside having supper. I cannot believe how lucky we've been (so far!) with the weather.
