Halifax July 4

The odometer rolled over 9000 km today. We didn't go very far today. A 45 minute drive took us to Peggy's Cove. I'd been there before when I was still in high school and had very fond memories of the place. But this time, it took me a little while to see past all the tourists.

So many, many tourists. Probably didn't help that we first stopped at the memorial for the  Swissair Flight 111 tragedy. So unsettling to think of the airliner crashing and losing all those lives here.
But eventually, we were able to scramble over enough rocks, to find a quiet place to be almost on our own and could again, contemplate the beauty of the place. We had lunch in the area. I thought that I was done with lobster but couldn't resist a lobster club sandwich. And then we took a circuitous route that brought us to the Halifax harbour front. Some of the landscapes reminded me of Newfoundland. There are museums that I want to see in Halifax, but that will have to wait for another day. We mosied around a little(although first painted dull grey, it was changed to a blue paint called dazzle camouflage, because when the ship was on the move,it made it more difficult for submarines to target)before settling in for a while at a beer garden.
The hope is to go a little further afield tomorrow. Right now, my eyes are droopy and I'm seriously thinking about going to bed(a lot earlier than normal). A combination of warmth and sun that I'm not used to. It seems like summer just decided to happen. Finally.
