Halifax July 5
My recaps are getting shorter and shorter and I figured out why. We ain't do'in anything. Except driving. And eating.
Today we drove to Lunenberg. Big Whoop. Don't get me wrong, Nova Scotia is beautiful. Actually, almost everywhere is gorgeous once you get off a highway. But Lunenberg is literally sailing on the coattails of the Bluenose.. (Bluenose II)
Yes, nice homes, nice architecture but there are probably a lot more scenic places to see today that are not overrun by tourists. Or maybe I'm just missing the starkness and quiet of most of Newfoundland.
We managed to put another 200 miles on the car, by doing another loop. I wanted to see the Annapolis Valley but Michael just wanted to get back to Halifax, so ended up taking a highway back. Which means, didn't get to see much of the valley. That means, we will take another drive to the valley in a couple of days.
But I did enjoy walking around another little town, Mahone Bay. Wanted to go to an antique store. Unfortunately, only open on Friday and Saturday.
Turns out, that it belongs to an Ethiopian congregation. This place was far from an urban center. This is what we've seen repeatably, a lot of diversity in the Maritimes. Immigrants are welcomed here. Of course, I can't say for sure how well they're treated, but at least for starters, these Provincial governments are working to bring immigrants in to bolster the population base.
