Last Day in Cape Breton Island July 2
I could make this a short post: we went on a hike and we listened to music, but what would be the fun in that?
I had to put a chair next to my bed last night. Could not climb into bed, too high. Was interesting in the middle of the night when I had to pee. Amazing that I didn't fall flat on my face.
Would you believe that I got Michael to do a long hike today? On yesterday's drive, I had seen people walking on top of a cliff, so of course, I wanted to go there, too.
Of course, I had no idea how long a walk it was going to be.We completed the entire loop 9.2 km and it was HOT. No jacket for me, today. Granted, the possibility of seeing moose was the prime motivator for Michael, not my cajoling, particularly after some hikers we met on the trail, said that they had seen some earlier. But boo, hoo all we saw was one rabbit . Added bonus, we heard a chorus of bullfrogs.
(Creeping dogwood)At least, it was the flattest, easiest trail that we've been on. Didn't need my walking stick today.
By the time we returned to the car, it was almost 2:30 and we were both famished. We'd only eaten a granola bar and we had heard about some music being performed in a restaurant in Cheticamp (20 minutes away, just outside the National Park), that was too start at 3.
We arrived just before starting time, and the place was already jammed, almost every seat taken, but they squeezed us in.

The fiddler wearing the black t-shirt, was the premier of Nova Scotia from 2006 till 2009. Maybe if Legault learned to fiddle or dance a jig, he'd loosen up a little.
While we were entertained for 3 hours inside, it decided to rain. Perfect timing.
Tomorrow, ANOTHER long drive. Going to the Halifax area.
