P.E.I. Last Day (boo, hoo) July 14
Bloody hell, ended up driving all over the eastern end of the island.
We headed to the most eastern point, where the waters of the Atlantic collide with the waters of the Northumberland Strait. If you time it properly (we didn't), you can see the two tides coming at each other. I couldn't capture it with the cellphone camera, but I could see the waves of the Atlantic, versus the calmer waters of the strait.(ferry coming back from Madeleine Islands)
At the lighthouse,
I couldn't help myself, but I butted in to a conversation that I overheard..... I'm such a yenta...when SHE said, " I want this bird" and HE said, " You need another bird?" and I said, " that's EXACTLY what MY husband would have said." and Michael soon demonstrated this for me, when I picked up another stuffed animal (to keep my bear company, although I had already picked up the moose in Newfoundland, and my puffin is hiding somewhere).
Also funny, Nina was wearing a blouse that she picked up at Winners in Toronto, ages ago. I have the same pattern on a blouse that I had picked up at Winners in Montreal, ages ago . (very nice of Nina to pose for me)
Michael didn't want seafood so we went to the food truck where he got a hamburger and I had a hotdog. At which point, I slapped myself on the side of the head, and said to myself "Dummy, go across the street and have a lobster roll." So I did.
And absolutely had to stop to take a picture of this field and see what was growing. Google confused me by telling me this was a wild flower. But it looked like a field that someone had planted! So had to stop and get a closer look.Definitely not lavender or a grain, so I stopped a neighbor to ask about it. Turns out that it is a wild flower that the farmer has planted as a crop rotation for his potatoes. Also, superb at attracting bees for pollination.
Last stop before returning to Charlottetown, was the Cow's icecream factory.I decided that I have to put the brakes on this food fest. So no supper for me after my ice cream cone. But I'll keep an eye open for them in Quebec City.
They had a teeny weeny factory tour where we saw their cheeses aging .We got back in plenty enough time for one last show, at the Confederation Theater, Anne of Green Gables. We'd seen it 50 years ago and I fully expected that I wouldn't be that impressed this time. But of course, we LOVED it.And the car is mostly packed up, and we'll be ready to go to Miramachi, New Brunswick tomorrow. I can't believe that the rain held off all week. They've been predicting storms all week, including for tomorrow. We won't care if it rains when we leave.
