Yesterday, we had our last sea day. Although, there are a lot of offerings to keep passengers busy, I rarely attended any daytime activity with the exception of the lectures. There were special interest lectures and destination lectures. Somehow, I felt busy without participating in the pingpong, golf putting, and darts challenges, or attending classes in watercolor art, jewelry making, or photography. And did everyone a favor, and stayed away from choir practice. https://photos.app.goo.gl/nCd59Z6qxUb8WPYt6
Michael, on the other hand, faithfully attended The Battle of the Sexes, where he became the head of an eleven guy pack. They looked to him for leadership, encouragement, and solace (when they lost). They depended on him and he had a fabulous time.
Every day, a different challenge- this last day: A Jenga tower. Did you ever see such concentration and focus?

And finally, we reached Crete, the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean. We didn't join a ship excursion because the one I had wanted to go on, had been cancelled (not enough participants...did I luck out?) And we had already taken the other excursion of interest, the last time we had come here. Instead, we just rode the Hop on Hop off Bus, which drove past the old fort, and the old walls of the city,
and then drove through a very modern part of the city,
before driving out to Knossos. As per Google
"Settled as early as the Neolithic period, the name Knossos survives from ancient Greek references to the major city of Crete. The palace of Knossos eventually became the ceremonial and political centre of the Minoan civilization and culture. The palace was abandoned at some unknown time at the end of the Late Bronze Age, c. 1380–1100 BC".
So, in better days, we would have debarked and explored, but there was a definite lack of interest in both our parts, because we were both POOPED. So, I feel a little guilty about cheating myself out of another cultural experience and memory, but oh, well.
We casually walked around the market core, and by mistake, I crashed a funeral while checking out a church (thank you for the raki and pastry)- if I'd been more observant, the hearse out front would have been a dead (pun intended) giveaway. While I was sampling, Michael was enjoying a new friend.
One of our least strenuous days and finished with a beautiful sunset.
